June 28, 2021

The Exchange Club of New Canaan Foundation announces the recent completion of its annual grants making process.  Jim Murray, this year’s Chair of the Club’s Grants and Donations Committee, said “in addition to other grants made during the past 12 months, the Exchange Club of New Canaan has given over $200,000 to 28 not-for-profit organizations in New Canaan and neighboring communities over the past year.”  In addition, Mr. Murray thanked the 22 Club members who participated on the Grants and Donations Committee for their careful and thorough review of all the grant applications.

The grant recipients included organizations that are focused on the Exchange Club’s four pillars of service:  the awareness and prevention of child abuse, community service, youth programs and Americanism.

During the past year, the Exchange Club experienced a very successful fund raising events, paced by the annual Christmas Tree Sale held at Kiwanis Park in the month before Christmas.  This year’s record tree sales allowed the Club to make a record level of grants, in a year in which COVID issues increased the funding needs of many organizations.

The annual Christmas Tree Sale is organized and staffed by the 135 Members of the Exchange Club and remains the primary fund raising event of the Club as it has been for the last 52 years.  John Fulkerson, President of the Exchange Club said “our thanks to the many members of the community who have supported the Club’s fund raising through their patronage of the Christmas Tree Lot.”
